The Genesis

RAPID wasn't just a business idea; it was born from a personal need. Co-founder Max, a former youth professional athlete in Germany and later a high-stakes poker player, understood the importance of discipline, physical endurance, and mental tenacity. Growing up in Germany, he was accustomed to "sauna paradises" -- places where people gather to enhance their health. When he moved to San Diego, he noticed a gap in the market: a dedicated space for authentic contrast therapy experiences.

Co-founder James, who grew up in San Diego, spent years building a career as a rare coin dealer, working long hours and focusing on business success. After burnout crept in, he decided to make a change to start focusing on balance and clarity. Soon after meeting Max, they began hanging out in his backyard, enjoying the sauna and cold plunge. Those sessions turned into regular meetups where they’d relax and catch up. James came to cherish those moments, it felt healthy, grounding, and truly refreshing. He saw how unique this is and realized it was something others would want and need in their lives too.

The RAPID vision is rooted in the Finnish tradition: truly hot, spacious saunas paired with crisp, refreshing cold plunges, all in a welcoming setting.
